Las Vegas for Beginners

So you’re coming to Las Vegas, FINALLY! Well we are excited to have you and want your trip to be as memorable and fun-filled as you do. So here are some helpful hints and tips to ensure that your vacation in the vacation of a lifetime.

First let’s decide on a hotel. Location, location, location is TOP PRIORITY. Deciding where to stay in Vegas is one of the most important decision you have to make. You will have to decide what needs you have before choosing. So decide what is most important to you. Will it be the prices, location or if you have any special needs that need to be met (inability to walk far, need a refrigerator for medicines, etc.)? You should also decide if you would like to stay on the Strip, Off Strip, or in the Downtown area. After addressing and deciding on these needs start checking that area online for hotels and sign up on their websites for special e-mail promotions for the properties you have selected as possible options.

While checking rates if they seem a bit high for that time of year make sure to check the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority web page and see what conventions are in town. Timing your trip will also have an impact on what you can do, what kind of deals are available to you like July and August are our hottest months are less expensive than the block from Thanksgiving to Christmas and if you’re planning a New Year’s in Las Vegas booking months in advance is the only way to get any break.

The amount of walking you will be doing is going to blow your mind. Make sure you have comfortable broken in shoes before you arrive. The Casinos are built on such a grand scale and are nowhere near as close as they appear to be. Sometimes you will walk a mile from the sidewalk to your room so the hotels are nowhere near as close as you may have thought. You can refer to Las Vegas’ getting around page that will inform you of all forms of transportation to see if there are any connectors/trams/shuttles that will take you to and from your hotel.

Do not leave your hotel room without these items in your bag. A bottle or two of water as you will dehydrate faster than you realize (the sweat evaporates so quickly you do not even realize you have been sweating). Also carry lip balm so your lips do not chap before you realize it. Just don’t leave it in the car. (Bloody mess)

And here is one of the best and biggest tips we can give you. Have a gaming/food budget! Possible ways to do this and stay on your budget is to take money out and put into separate envelopes and any money left over that day can be considered a win! For the foodies, do your research here folks! Some places will carry a dinner that can be up to $100 a person or you can find ways on Las Vegas for beginners.net for money saving suggestions that can have you eating on $20-$30 a day budget for exceptional dining. And what kind of helper would I be if I did not suggest you check out ALL of the hotels deals they have on their buffets… Most all of the resorts have special prices for their club card holders that will get you a buffet meal for under $10. Also Las Vegas has every fast food restaurant your hometown does too and maybe some you have never hear of… Eating or finding affordable dining will not be a top worry here. As long as you do a little early planning.

Speaking of planning. Plan early, start making plans, check websites to print off maps of the Strip and Downtown area so you will know where everything is you’re looking for. It is very easy to get turned around and lost as everything is on such a large scale things appear much closer than they really are. So unless you’re careful you can end up feeling a little like Alice after she fell down the rabbit hole. So come prepared and you hopefully will not get lost.

There is so much to do and so much to see do not overwhelm yourself trying to do it all. It isn’t going to happen. There are people who live in Vegas and can’t get out to do it all so slow down pick a few things and ENJOY your trip.

The World’s Best Cities For Casinos

If you’re into gambling, then you know that finding the perfect location to set up for the night is key to having a good time. When people think of gambling, they immediately think of Las Vegas, and for good reason. Perhaps no other city in the world is as well known for its casinos and crazy nights. But focusing just on Las Vegas means you’re overlooking tons of international locations that can offer equally impressive gambling experiences. Read on for some suggestions for your next big trip.

San Jose, Costa Rica

Not many people associate gambling with Costa Rica, but the capital city has become a growing destination for tourists from the United States, Canada, and Europe. The exchange rate is great, so your chances of getting lucky rise from the moment you step off the plane. With over 30 casinos, there is no shortage of places to gamble the night away. When you step away from the tables and slot machines, you will also find the added bonus of being in the middle of paradise. There is no better escape than sipping a drink on a beautiful beach.

Paris, France

Paris is known as the city of love, not a city that has a great gambling scene. Interestingly enough, online gambling is still illegal in France, so when locals want to try to win some money, they have no choice but to enter the real world and visit a casino. While they don’t have a ton of them in the city, the ones they do have are fantastic.

Singapore

The gaming industry in Singapore is fairly new, but it is growing quickly, with the construction of several luxury casinos and resorts. Singapore’s proximity to China makes it ideal for wealthy businessmen to spend the weekend and gamble at a luxurious location. Singapore is a unique option for American gamblers, as it offers them the opportunity to participate in the games they love while also spending time in one of the most technologically advanced cities on Earth.

London, England

People typically view London as a pretty reserved town, unlikely to be into poker or blackjack. However, London is one of the most important cities on the planet economically. There are many casinos open to the public, but the most interesting ones are those that are a bit more private. Exclusive establishments have strict policies about who is allowed inside.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with staying close to home if you’re looking for a fun night out. But, if gambling is truly your passion and you want to make a vacation out of it, why not travel to somewhere that you’ve never been before? Even if you lose in the casino, you’ll win an incredible travel experience. That seems like a pretty good bet to take.

A Brief Tutorial On Poker Tournaments

With the advent of the Internet and the ability to watch competitions on television, poker tournaments have become more and more popular with the American people. Competitive card matches are one of the top ten most-watched sports programs on television. One of the most popular apps available on smartphones and tablets in 2014 allowed users to play Vegas-style card games against other players. So, here is a brief rundown of its basic aspects and history.

History

Poker tournaments have been going on since the game was founded in New Orleans in 1829. However, it did not reach the structured format seen today until the first World Series was held in Las Vegas in 1970. The next big step was achieved with the advent of online gambling, which allowed users from all across the world to play one another. Playing over the computer also allowed gamblers to play more frequently than ever before. In 2003, Chris Moneymaker revolutionized the world of poker when he won the World Series after qualifying through an online tournament. The publicity that Moneymaker received, along with his $1,000,000 grand prize, helped spread knowledge about the competitions throughout the world. Today there are multiple events held in casinos everywhere in the world. The two biggest competitions are still the World Series and the World Tour.

Competition Formats

When entering into organized competitions, many card players have specific formats that they prefer. The freeze-out format, where a competitor is eliminated when they lose all of their chips, is the most common. As players are eliminated from their initial table, the tables are slowly consolidated. The end result is a single table, and finally a winner. A re-buy format allows competitors who are eliminated early on to purchase a second chance at play. The third most common format is known as the shootout. In this scenario, every table plays until there is only a single person left. The remaining members from each table then play each other at the final table. During these different formats, the two most common variants of play seen are stud and Texas-hold-em.

Betting Structure

Another important aspect of poker tournaments is the betting structure. This dictates how much players can bet on each hand. In “fixed limit,” competitors can only bet a certain amount, which increases as the game goes on. In “pot or spread limit,” players have a minimum and maximum that they can bet. In “no limit,” players can bet as little or as much as they want. The betting structure greatly affects the style in which players approach the competition.

How to Make Your Home Poker Games Feel Like You’re in a Casino

After analyzing thousands of chips over the history of casino gaming some manufacturers have arrived at their own edgy designs. For a poker chip to be interesting they found they needed to look legitimate and tell a story. The best sets garner a little bit of Las Vegas style and exhibit a fresh look at the history of gaming. Chips become superior for four reasons: Inlays, Edge Spots, Molds and Materials.

Inlay design is the most important component of the manufacturing process and each chip is designed by a team of artists. You need to ensure that every inlay design employs cutting edge techniques and that each chip appears as if it could have come direct from the casino floor. Every inlay tells a story and evokes a feeling of nostalgia.

Employing a four-color approach to edge spots makes the chips more interesting. Each poker chip has a base color and three accent colors used on the edge spot. All sets use a different color scheme. This process yields an exciting and wonderful array of colors on your poker table. The edge spots are also unique and exciting.

Avoiding the simple 8 stripe approach or a boring dual colored rectangle when designing the chip edge spots. Triangles, tri-stripes, quadrangles and multi color rectangles are all part of a more exciting edge spot arsenal.

The key is to design unique and interesting molds that create an engraved impression (known as mold marks) around the chip. You need to make sure that your Poker chip Sets are not simply boring flat smooth discs. The mold marks provide the chip with an identity even before you place the inlay. Casinos use a mold mark for uniqueness and branding. If your chips do not have mold marks, then they will not look or feel authentic. Mold markings give a poker chip texture, security and authenticity. Mold markings give poker chip sets a personality.

Using the finest clay’s and composite materials during the production process is essential. The best chips use only casino quality raw materials in their molds. Not only do the chips look like they have come off the casino floor, but they feel authentic.

When designing a new poker chip the best manufacturers create fictitious casinos to help bring authenticity to the other aspects of the poker chip sets. One such popular style of Poker Chip Sets is called “Bluff Canyon Casino”. This clay composite Poker Chip comes in several count sets and either a wooden carousel for the lower counts or an aluminum case for the higher count sets. These chips come in various denominations. The Bluff Canyon inlay is set upon a Greek Key molded poker chip. These chips have twelve thin stripes in bunches of three for its edge markings. The layout of this chip is similar to the wildly popular Venetian Poker room casino chip. The inlay itself uses a group of evergreen trees as its fictitious logo, but conveys a rugged outdoor’s theme. The fictitious casino destination “Bluff Canyon Casino” is written on top of each chip. The denomination is large and placed near the bottom of the inlay.

Why Casino Resorts Are the Best Weekend Getaway Option

I have often wondered why casino resorts seem to be one of the least popular destinations for a weekend getaway. They can be as relaxing as a beach trip, more entertaining than dinner and a movie, and more affordable than you think. If you are looking for a quick getaway, read these three reasons why they are one of the best options for some weekend fun.

They are affordable (and potentially profitable).

Visiting a casino resort can be one of the cheapest options for a weekend getaway out there, and could even be profitable with a little good luck. Unlike regular hotels (which only make money when people buy rooms), casino resorts make money when people shop, drink, dine, gamble, visit the spa, and buy tickets to entertainment events, in addition to selling hotel rooms. That is why they typically offer cheaper rates than regular hotels. In addition, the rooms are designed to be “resort” style, and are by far one of the nicest hotel stays you can get at a low price (they would often cost about $150-$200 a night at a comparable hotel).

In addition to comps on rooms, you can also save on food and gambling through casino promotions. Nearly all casinos give away free stuff to their new players. All you have to do is sign up for a free player’s card to receive their latest promotion, which could be anything from free food, free table game or slot play, prizes, entries into drawings or contests, a discounted room, or a combination of all of these things! After your stay, they will send you free offers in the mail and a monthly newsletter. The more you play, the better the offers they send your way.

They have several delicious dining options.

Nearly all casino resorts have a buffet, a diner/deli, a cafe, and a nice steak/seafood restaurant. Some places also offer other types of dining options like a sushi restaurant, a sports bar, or a pizzeria. You can literally eat at a different place for every meal during your weekend stay without leaving the building! There will always be a bar, often several bars, and in some cases a nightclub and live music.

They offer lots of shopping and entertainment options.

There will always be a gift shop, and many times there will be other types of small shops as well, like a menswear shop, a jewelry store, or a cigar lounge. There are also several types of entertainment offered as an alternative to gambling, like a pool and hot tub, a sauna or spa, a golf course and pro shop, and a large venue for hosting concerts and shows.

You don’t have to fly to Las Vegas or Atlantic City either; casino resorts are located all over the country. Do a search for one in your area. Chances are you are only a few hours drive from one at most. Book a room and have a great weekend!

Virtual Gambling – A Few Things You Need To Know

Ah yes, there is virtual reality and it is beginning to transition into virtual gambling. This has become the new trend now that everything has almost become virtual. For most people, virtual gambling has become a favorite past time and this is true regardless of the nature of income one has or of his gender and social status.

The term virtual here cannot be interpreted as mere illusory. It simply means gambling through the use of technological innovations like streaming and internet. There are a lot of choice when you play game virtually. Like the amenities and equipment you normally see in casinos, you will see the same type of choices in virtual gaming. Choices are actually diverse that you will certainly find it difficult to choose sometimes.

But aside from the traditional games you see on a regular casino, you will see a number of gaming innovations in virtual gambling. It includes world cups, Saturday matches, reality TV shows and virtually everything which can ask for betting money. What’s good with it is that there is virtually anything you can find and can bet from.

If you ask if it is ever safe then you are assured that it is. It is a safe and fun environment because it is really hard to cheat online. And since no one sees you, it adds spice to the word “fun”. This alone makes people get allured, tempted and made most to get addicted. One can start with free online gaming so he can start dipping his toe into it. It is a great way to try and learn the ins and outs. After getting used to it, you can start customizing some of the features and way of betting.

Today, people no longer stay late in casinos. The then wrong impression one gets when entering a casino is now avoided and one can bet almost anytime before their computers. In Los Angeles and the surrounding cities you can certainly find something that gets your jollies going, no matter if you are a theme park enthusiast or a strip club connoisseur.

I have a couple friends who love to gamble at casinos across California, so I’ve asked them which are the top 5 best casinos to visit while in Southern California.

Here’s the list of 5 best casinos for your 2017 travel

5. Hawaiian Gardens Casino

Located at 11871 Carson St, Hawaiian Gardens, CA.

Hawaiian Gardens Casino recently underwent a serious $90 million dollar renovation and expansion project and opened earlier this year. The old 59,500-square-foot casino has been remodeled with a modern and very appealing 200,000-square-foot gaming, dining, and entertainment complex.

For the serious poker players or even the amateurs who want to try cashing out on their beginners luck, the Gardens Casino offers a full spectrum of no-limit games, starting at $20 and $40 buy-in no-limit hold’em, ranging up to $500-$1,500. As of the moment, the casino also offers smaller buy-in daily tournaments and the occasional $100,000 and $150,000 guaranteed prize pool events. Worth checking out.

4. The Bicycle Hotel & Casino

Located at 888 Bicycle Casino Dr. Bell Gardens, CA 90201

The casino here is astonishingly bigger than you would expect, and if you specifically like card games this is the place you want to be in, seriously theres only card games but various types of games.

-Not a slot machine in sight

Also you get free food when you play at the $100-$200 buy in no-limit tables. Food prices at this location are very good either way. The Korean BBQ here is amazing and taste very authentic. There has been in noticeable change in the casino as it has went under recent upgrades in the interior. Overall a very nice spot to get your poker face on. Don’t forget to swoop a drink from the brewery.

3. The Commerce Casino

Located at 6131 East Telegraph Rd, Commerce, CA 90040

The biggest card casino in the world isn’t in Las Vegas. It’s in Los Angeles.

This is by far one of the finest carding casino in the Los Angeles area. Not a bad place to get your experience on the poker tables and get your education up. Arena grills has savory food also.

No-limit tables are:
$40 table- that’s it, not 40-80, 40-140, etc, just $40 max buy in. $60 max rebuy after bust-out.
$100 table – same as above $100 only, $150 max rebuy after bust-out.
$200 table – same as above $200 only, $300 max rebuy after bust-out.
$300-500 table then it goes from there. Minimum bets all around are $5 for blackjack and $10 for baccarat.

It’s a clean casino excellent for a night out with friends. The food is delicious, outstanding service, and a huge parking lot. Lots of tables to play, many different games, the dealers are nice and welcoming. There are other perks that make this joint pretty interesting but the point is if you want to play cards you can never go wrong here at commerce.

2. San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino

Located at 777 San Manuel Blvd Highland, CA 92346

One of my personal favorites, only because of the vast memories this place has provided. This casino is located in Highland, Ca, a small neighboring city to San Bernardino, CA about 45 minutes east of Los Angeles on the I10 freeway.

This casino is always very alive and vivid, Fridays and Saturdays it gets fairly crowded. I have a few friends employed here which makes every visit very welcoming so I can say San Manuel has friendly employees and no to mention the payout. My last time here I won $400 after I stuck a $100 dollar bill in a slot when I was walking out.

Valet parking is the way to go its only $3. If you’re new to betting on slot machines remember to bet the minimum to avoid losing all your money to fast and maximize potential earning. If this is your first time here then you should sign up for a free players card since you get to spin a wheel which most likely you will get $20 free slot extra credit.

Good luck though finding an open slot machine that you like. There is no cellular signal or reception for your phone in this place but they offer free uncapped WIFI 24/7 for free you can connect to.

I enjoy coming to San Manuel and if you’re in the SoCal area give it a try, you won’t regret it.

1. Pechanga Resort & Casino

Located at 45000 Pechanga Pkwy Temecula, CA 92592

I just want to add a quick important fact:
There’s a few pokestops here. So if you’re looking for Pokemon on Pokemon Go you’re in luck. Not that I play that stuff or anything, wink-wink.

I love how classy the vibe is when you enter through the valet and how all the employees are so amicable, I feel as if this Resort is a second home. When you are here you are family. This is by far one the most immaculate casinos I’ve been to. Why even bother with Vegas when this hidden gem is so close to home. Only about another 45 minute from San Manuel on the 215 south towards San Diego. The food here is exquisite, there is a gorgeous tree surrounded by gorgeous waterfalls. If your not the gambling type their is a dope Spa&Saloon to check out. Everyone gets treated like VIP here. Lots and lots of slot machines. They have poker rooms, high stake limit slots, a live show theatre, buffet and food court.

Casino War – Your Favorite Childhood Game Is Back

Casino War is played at a table with seats for seven players. Six or eight decks of playing cards are stacked in a dealer shoe controlled by a house dealer.

The objective is for the player to beat the dealer with a higher ranking card. All cards are ranked as in poker where the lowest rank is a deuce (2). The ace is always high while suits are irrelevant when playing Casino War.

Wagering

Players must first make an ante wager prior to being dealt one card face up. The dealer also receives one card up. If the player’s card ranks higher than the dealers, the player wins even money. If not, the house takes the wager. If both the player and dealer cards are the same rank, the player has (2) options:

Option One

Go to war by placing an additional wager equal to the original bet on top of the card. The dealer will then burn (discard) three cards before dealing a second card face up to the player. Dealer repeats the same for his or herself. If the player wins s/he will be paid 2 to 1 on the war wager only. The ante goes to the house. A tie with the dealer on the second card is a bonus for the player with a 4 to 1 payout.

Option Two

Surrender by not making a War wager. The player must then forfeit ½ of the original ante. During my play I saw no one surrender. Surrender is not the recommended strategy as this option is always a loss for the player and a win for the house.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term house edge, it’s a built in advantage for the casino. The above % amount simply means that the casino expects to win $2.88 for every $100 you wager at the game over time. Now that doesn’t mean that your going to walk away with $97.12 every time you’ve wagered $100. This is over the long term. With luck and smart play in any game. you can win over the short term.

Side Bet

A side bet is available where a player can wager that their first card will tie the dealer’s card. The winning payout is an attractive 10 to 1 but this choice has a huge house edge of about 18 %. Rules may vary slightly between jurisdictions for all winning payouts and side bets.

Strategy

The simple strategy for this game occurs when the option to go to war. If you choose to go to war, the house edge is 2.88%. If you choose to surrender, the edge jumps to 3.7%. Better to go to war than surrender.

Open Face Chinese Poker – A New Twist to an Old Card Game

Chinese Poker is a poker game popular with Asian players and now has a new variant called Open Face Chinese Poker. This card game is simple and not much strategy is required for players that like to play poker.

How to Play Open Face Chinese Poker

You will first have to know poker hand rankings. The objective is to have a better poker ranking hand(s) than the other player(s) at the table which accommodates two to four players. Each player will receive a total of thirteen cards to make 3 poker hands. Points (units) are awarded or the various winning hands. A monetary value per point is established before play begins.

Each player first receives five cards from a standard 52 card deck. A dealer button is used to identify a dealer position. the button rotates to he left after each hand is played. This is important because he player with the button is the last to act. This is known as having “position” on the other players. Starting with the first player to the left of the button, players must flip their cards face up and start setting them into what is known as a Chinese Poker 3-5-5 format. These are three separate poker hands:

  • A 3 card hand at the top
  • A 5 card hand in the middle
  • A 5 card hand at the bottom

Each hand must be progressively stronger starting with the 3 card hand at the top. The middle hand must outrank the top hand and the bottom (back) hand must outrank the middle. If you’re lucky and your initial 5 cards are very strong, such as a full house or a flush, you can use all five at the bottom, and build the middle and top during the draws. Once you initially set the three hands they are cast in stone. You cannot switch cards between the three hands.

Each player is then dealt one card at a time to complete the remaining hands into the proper 3-5-5 format. If a hand is miss-set the player automatically receives a “foul” and loses the hand. For example, having two pair on the bottom hand while setting three of a kind in the middle would be a foul, in that three of a kind outranks two pair, where the bottom is supposed to be the strongest.

A player is awarded one unit for winning two of three hands and six units for winning all three, which is known as “scooping”. In addition, royalty points are awarded for achieving certain hands, such as a bottom would win two units for a straight, and up to twenty for a royal flush. The top hand is one point for a pair of sixes ( lowest qualifying hand) and up to twenty for trip aces. Straights and flushes do not count in the three card hand.

Casino Safety – Be Aware – Stay Alert

Although casino robberies are rare and mostly non-violent, victims are often oblivious that they have been a target until they reach for their valuables. Whether your day tripping or on an extensive stay to play your favorite games, it’s wise to know how to protect yourself while at a casino. Here are some tips:

When Driving

After reaching your destination valet your vehicle. Most casinos offer this service for a small charge or free. It’s easy access to the front door and you won’t have to worry about walking through a dimly lit garage to the elevator. This service is well worth the charge.

At an Elevator

If someone makes you uncomfortable while waiting for an elevator do not get on with that person. Wait for the next car. Try to position yourself against the back wall. This will give you a clear view of everyone in the car and protect you against a Light Finger Louie.

In the Casino

GENTLEMEN: Guard your wallet and your cash. Try carrying your wallet and/or cash in a deep side pocket. If you must keep it in your back pocket make sure you button it. Try wrapping a rubber band around it. This will make it difficult to lift from your pocket.

LADIES: Keep you purse zipped, latched, or buttoned at all times. Do not carry it straight over the shoulder. Put the strap diagonally across your body if possible. Do not open or display the contents in front of a crowd and always secure it immediately after using. Never carry money or other valuables in fanny packs as the straps can easily be cut. Be aware of a Bump when walking through a crowd. Many pick pockets work in teams to create distractions. If you do get bumped immediately reach for your valuables to make sure they’re still there.

While Playing

Never put a purse or other valuables on the ledge between slot machines. Someone could easily reach through from the other side to steal them. Keep your purse closed on your lap in front of you. Pay attention to the bill acceptor while putting your money in. Sometimes the machine will not accept the bill and it will slide out of the slot where it can be stolen at the slightest distraction. When cashing out keep your eye on the collect ticket slot. The tickets are about the size of a dollar bill and will protrude about two thirds of the way out until someone takes it.

When playing table games guard you casino chips as well, Especially if you play craps. Put a few one dollar chips on each end of your stack on the rail with the higher denominations in the middle.

Other Tips

  • If you’re lucky and win a large amount of chips, have a security guard escort you to the cashier cage.
  • Put your cash away at the cage. Do not carry it in your hand through the casino.
  • If you’re staying overnight use the room safe or safety deposit box that most casinos provide.
  • Carry emergency identification in a place other than your wallet or purse. A player’s card in a different pocket is a good idea.
